This time next week we will have had Christmas and opened most of the gifts under the tree.

However, there may be gifts you have not opened still lingering under the tree in the hearts of millions and that gift is what Jesus came to give us all: the gift of eternal life which is the reason we celebrate Christmas in the first place!

Did you know before all eternity that God had a plan through Jesus Christ, that He would send His only begotten Son down to earth and later die on Calvary’s cross at age 33? Jesus did this paying the ransom for all our sins as each of us are sinners. John 3:16 says this: “For God so loved the world, that He gave His only begotten Son, that whosoever believes in Him shall not die but have eternal life.” His gift is for you, each of you, to open and as you do to ask Him in your heart and forgive you of all your sins! When you do, Jesus will write your name in the Lambs Book of Life and when you die you get to go to heaven and live with Him forever!

That is the biggest gift you can open, but there is still another one and this one most ignore and that is the gift He tells us to give others by walking in love and forgiveness! Jesus says we must forgive others and not hold on to grudges that steal, kill and destroy off our lives. Jesus said as He was dying on the cross: “Father, forgive them, for they know not what they do!”

He also said if we don’t forgive others He cannot forgive us for you see He treats each of us as a family and He wants no strife or anger between family members or those around us! When Jesus told us in John 10:10 to love the Lord our God with all our hearts, souls and spirits and to love our neighbor as ourself, He meant it! Who is your closest neighbor? Your spouse, children, relatives, co workers are and all around you whom you bump into all year long! Jesus wants us loving each other! Peter asked how often do I have to forgive? And Jesus said to Peter not 7 times but 7 times 7 times which means forever! So...back to forgiveness. We all have situations everyday that require forgiveness, be it family, friends, relatives, coworkers, etc. How are you dealing with it? Do you lie in bed at night seeking to get even?

All this does is to destroy you. Forgive, let it go and take in the best gift Jesus gave to you: to be one in His love and to love your neighbor as yourself! Only then will you have the perfect peace which surpasses all human understanding and only then will your heart feel at peace! So open those gifts of asking Jesus into your heart and that of forgiving others!

God bless and keep you safe in the arms of our Blessed Savior, Jesus Christ!
