Cinco de Mayo weekend schedule announced

Celebrate Cinco de Mayo, a community event, on Saturday, May 7, from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. in Beeville. Food, family events and live entertainment will take place at various locations downtown.


9 a.m. — Main Street Market opens.

9 a.m. — TDCJ Special Olympics (This will go on throughout the day).

10 a.m. — TDCJ Fire Truck Pull.

10 a.m. — South Texas Cloggers.

10:30 a.m. — Fiesta Bee County Ballet Folklorico.

11:30 a.m. — Mariachis, including Luna y Sol Mariachi.

12:30 p.m. — Live music.

Over at Dave Moore Ford, the Ballet Folklorico will perform from noon to 12:30 p.m. Luna y Sol will entertain from 12:30-1 p.m., with the Latin Attitude group then taking the stage for an hour’s entertainment from 1-2 p.m. To finish off the celebration, from 2-3 p.m., Jimmy Lee y Tentazion will perform.

Tickets are available in advance for lunch bag specials with brisket sandwiches and fixings, chips and drink are $5 each, benefiting Coastal Bend College Athletic Department. Meals can be picked up at Dave Moore Ford-Mercury, 115 W. Houston St. in Beeville. A drive-thru will be set up. Reserve tickets by phone at 354-2721.

Indomable will play downtown at the market from 12:30 to 2 p.m. The Skidmore-based band was started by three brothers: Mike, Ray and Mark Garcia. Mike is lead singer. Indomable will play at the Chick-A-Saw Club on the same night from 9 p.m. to 1 a.m. in honor of Cinco de Mayo.
