GOLIAD – Administrators from several rural school districts throughout Region 3 met in Goliad on Monday to discuss ways they can better communicate and promote more collaborative efforts to better their students.

Goliad ISD hosted the Career and Technical Education Focus Group in the meeting room at the administration building.

One topic of discussion was improving online education and communication for rural students.

“This is a good way to communicate with the other rural school districts to see how we can benefit one another,” Goliad ISD Director of C&I and Special Programs Liz Harris said.

A representative from South Texas Energy & Economic Roundtable also addressed the administrators to inform them of opportunities their school districts can utilize during the Eagle Ford Shale boom.

Harris said representatives from the University of Houston-Victoria, Victoria College and Coastal Bend College were invited to the workshop.

“One of the reasons we wanted to get everyone together to share future plans is to hear the visions each of you have as well,” Harris told the administrators.

Harris also spoke on dual-credit opportunities with the three area colleges.

Administrators were later given a tour of the Goliad Events Center, Goliad High School Auditorium and Goliad High School agriculture department.
