Carol Semper of Yorktown will be the guest speaker for the service, which is sponsored by St. Peter’s unit of Women of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America.
The service will begin at 9 a.m. St. Peter’s is located at 1545 E. Farm-to-Market Road 1961 in Ander. Members of the community are invited to attend the service.
Semper has served as a teacher for 30 years and is currently employed with the Yorktown ISD. She holds a bachelor’s degree in music from Texas Lutheran University, an English degree, and a master’s degree in administration from the University of Phoenix.
Her journey with Women of the ELCA began in 2000 when she joined a circle at her congregation. She was elected in 2001 as a member of the conference coordinating board and elected as secretary of the synodical women’s organization in 2002. She served two terms until 2006 and was then elected as the triennial coordinator for the 2008 Triennial Gathering of Women of the ELCA in Salt Lake City.
In 2008, she re-elected as secretary of the synodical board. She was elected in 2012 as the Bluebonnet Conference board member. She is currently finishing her term on the board and is working on coordinating the upcoming synodical women’s convention, which will be held in Victoria and hosted by the Bluebonnet Conference in October.
Semper and her husband, Ray, are members of St. Paul Lutheran Church in Nordheim. Together they have four children and seven grandchildren.
