She was even more dismayed when she learned that none of the newer recorder/players were compatible with her old analog TV. She had a choice - keep the old TV and not be able to record her favorite programs or bite the proverbial bullet and enter into the 21st century.
That meant buying a new TV that would be compatible with a DVR. Kicking and screaming, Dot discovered how swiftly the world and technology can change a person’s life and pocketbook!
Indeed, technology changes our world so fast that as soon as something new comes out, within a few months, it becomes outdated and obsolete. Something faster and better has become available.
Sometimes these new innovations in technology seem to overwhelm us and the world seems to be leaving us behind. Sometimes we are so shocked and so stunned, we just want to yell, “Stop the world, I want to get off.”
Of course, that is impossible. However, in those times when everything seems to get us down, remember there is a solution. A solution where we can turn over all of our fears and tribulations, not just our fear of technology.
Whenever we sing the Hymn “O Christ the Same” in church, we are reminded that we can turn everything over to the “King of all the ages, unchanging still amid all the passing years.” This king of all the ages is our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.
St. Paul reassures us in Hebrews 13:8, “Jesus Christ is the same yesterday and today and forever.”
We can always rely on Christ who remains steadfast throughout all the ages, especially when the world seems to be passing us by and leaving us in the dust - the dust of technology and all that other “stuff” in our lives that we fail to grasp and understand.
Always rely on Christ!
