Dorothy I. Whitby, 89, of Goliad died July 8, 2013.

Dorothy was born to Thornton and Mira Miskie Lott on Sept. 5, 1923 in Goliad.

She was a retired cafeteria cook for the Goliad County Hospital and homemaker.

She was a devoted Christian who belonged to the Fannin Street United Methodist Church for over 75 years, serving in many forms of church work.

She was preceded in death by her husband, John C. Whitby Jr., and sister, Mary Lee Lott, and brothers, Everett and Eddie Lott. Survivors include two cousins and their families, Leona Todd and Roy Moore, brother-in-law, Julius Whitby Sr., and family along with sister-in-law, Francis Franklin, and family.

Visitation will begin Friday, July 19 at Grace Funeral Home in Goliad at 1 p.m. and last until 7 p.m. Family will receive friends beginning at 5 p.m.

Funeral services will be on Saturday, July 20 at 11 a.m. at Fannin Street United Methodist Church in Goliad with Rev. Darrell Edwards officiating. Burial will follow in the Lott Cemetery in Goliad.

Memorials may be made to Fannin Street United Methodist Church in memory of Dorothy.
