GOLIAD – Iona Jank Berger of Goliad passed away May 17, 2013.

She was born July 17, 1920 in Ander to Julia and Gus Jank. Iona was married to O G Berger for 60 years.

She is preceeded in death by parents, husband, two brothers Alton and J. Gus (Iris) and grandchild Julia.

She is survived by her brother Allen L. Jank (Ruby) and sister Pearl (Judy) Caldwell (John), her adopted children Christy and James, grandchildren Carl and Brittany and many nieces and nephews.

Iona was a talented seamstress. Her husband had a leather shop in Goliad and later in Seguin. Iona did handbags, jackets and helped her husband with saddles and belts. She and her husband built three homes and a business building in Goliad which is still being used today.

She was active in St John's Lutheran Church womens group and in the Goliad Garden Club. The last seven years were spent in La Bahia Nursing Home in Goliad.

Funeral services were 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, May 22 at St John's Lutheran Church of Goliad with burial following at Glendale Cemetery.
