Goliad man dies in Karnes County accident

KARNES COUNTY – A Goliad man died as a result of injuries sustained in an oilfield site accident Monday.

According to information from the Karnes County Sheriff's Office, the accident happened near the intersection of County Road 249 and Farm-to-Market Road 81, a location about eight miles north of Karnes City.

At about 10 a.m., the Karnes County Sheriff's Office received a 9-1-1 call reporting an injured person at the oilfield site.

A deputy who arrived at the scene found the victim, James Dean Burnett, 25, of Goliad, severely injured as a result of pipe falling on top of him.

CPR was attempted by medical personnel but the man was later pronounced dead at the scene.
