Man arrested in Goliad suspected of hit-and-run in Yorktown

GOLIAD – A man purportedly involved with the Mexican Mafia was arrested in Goliad on Wednesday and charged with aggravated assault with a motor vehicle.

According to a news release from the Goliad County Sheriff's Office, Raul Rios, 32, was arrested at a residence on East Fannin Street by Goliad County Sheriff Kirby Brumby and GCSO officers without incident. Rios was transported to the Goliad County Jail and is being held on a $75,000 bond.

According to the news release, GCSO investigator Jim Garner was contacted by Vicente Flores of the Yorktown Police Department at approximately 3:30 p.m. Wednesday in regards to an aggravated assault with a motor vehicle that had occurred in Yorktown. Flores said the suspect allegedly used a blue Ford Mustang to run over an individual in Yorktown.

Flores informed Garner that he had an arrest warrant for the suspect, who was believed to be a Goliad resident. Garner located the blue Ford Mustang and notified Flores, who was also part of the arrest.

The Mustang was towed to the Goliad County Sheriff's Office vehicle impound for processing.
