Dear Editor,

General Zaragoza Society of Goliad wishes to acknowledge the tremendous outpouring of support for our recent ZECA Awards Banquet.

We were able to present a highly successful event with the help of our major sponsors, H-E-B, L&F Distributors (Bud and Bud Light), and Villafranca & Villafranca Law Firm. Along with our major sponsors, we had the support of 15 corporate table sponsors and over 300 persons in attendance.

Our Master of Cere-monies, Emilio Vargas, III, did a fabulous job in keeping the crowd in a joyous mood. We are very proud of the debut of this prestigious event and of the medallion that will be coveted by many in the coming years. We feel that recognizing outstanding individuals and leaders of our region will make the event a more sought after prize.

Our first year’s selected winners were outstanding and were well received by all. The General Zaragoza Society wants to thank all that attended and sponsored this prestigious event, as we mark this out for a yearly return to historical Goliad. Our membership continues to push forward with our educational programs and the promotion of our beautiful city, Goliad.

Thanks to all area newspapers that carried us as a press release and later published the award recipients as a group, especially the Goliad Advance-Guard.

We thank the following corporate sponsors for their generosity and attendance: H-E-B, L&F Dis-tributors (Bud and Bud Light), Paul San Miguel – San Miguel family, Cut Rate Liquors - Carlos and Irma Gutierrez, Mission Villas of Goliad - Mr. and Mrs. David Wright, Goliad County Fair Association, Goliad Funeral Home - Adrian Fulton & Associates, Highway Garage - Alonzo and Pat Morales, U.S. Congressman-elect Filemon Vela, Victory Kia - Eva Padilla and Carlos Chapa, Club Westerner - Villafranca and Escalante families, and Dos Tecolotes Ranch - Kermit and Beverly Batey.
