The renovation committee of the Dobie/West Theatre strives to bring live performing arts to Live Oak County. However, they still face a big hurdle. One of the first groups to help the committee reach their goal of $19,500 for the HVAC system was the George West Chamber of Commerce.
The George West Chamber is known for being a champion for good in George West. This donation, another example of their championship spirit, is offered as a challenge to other organizations and individuals to match or exceed their donation.
As one Dobie/West Theatre Board Member was heard saying, “If 1,950 people donated $100 we would have air conditioning!” or “If 1000 people donated $19.50 we would have air conditioning” or “If 19.5 people donated $1000 we would have air conditioning!” You get the picture.
The Dobie/West Theatre, located on the courthouse square, will be used as a Storyfest venue on Nov. 6, 2010. Wouldn’t it be great to have the air conditioning done at that time? Plans are also being made for live theatrical and musical performances as well as presentations by school children and local artists as special entertainment from professionals.
The foyer area may also be used for community meetings and gatherings. The Dobie/West Theatre Board appreciates the George West Chamber of Commerce’s championship of this endeavor and for being a leader in making George West a better place to live.
You can be a part of this celebration by sending your donation for $19.50, $100, $1000 or $19,500 to Dobie/West Theatre, P. O. Box 1223, George West, TX. 78022. The Dobie/West Theatre is a 501 (c) 3 nonprofit organization which may receive you donation and for which you will receive a receipt that can be used to offset your federal income tax.
