Six slots on the All-District 30-2A first team selections were filled with Skidmore-Tynan Bobcats. The district coaches recently released their choices for postseason honors and the S-T boys fared well.

“We are really proud of our guys who earned all-district. They deserved it, especially with the season not ending the way we had hoped,” said Bobcat head coach Adam Arroyo.

The ‘Cats placed two players on the first team offense and defense along with two of the special teams members. On offense, running back Alex Gonzales was a unanimous first team pick by the coaches. He was joined by lineman Matt Hernandez.

Defensively, the Bobcats had outside linebacker Zach Petrus and defensive back Chris Patrova on the elite first team.

Patrova was also selected as a first team special teams return man along with Gavin Vandever as a specialist.

The offense put two players on the all-district second team, with Robert Brown earning a spot at tight end and Taylor Long making it as one of the big guys up front on the line.

Honorable mention status on offense went to QB Rudy Hernandez, running back Jordan Carter, wide receiver Zach Hall and center Jonathan Murphey.

Three Bobcats were chosen for the second team on defense. Mark Salinas was named to the defensive line second team all-district. Joe Casarez was also honored as an outside linebacker. Zach Hall got the second team selection for his work in the Bobcat secondary this year.

The defensive honorable mention list included Chance Schirmer as a lineman, defensive end John Arrisola, inside linebacker Kevin Shumake and Alejandro Perez for the secondary.

“We are proud of our seniors on the all-district list; they understood we were young but helped our young kids along tremendously. The future is definitely bright at S-T and the boys are working hard right now,” Arroyo said.

“We have eight starters on offense and nine starters on defense back, so that is extra incentive for our guys working hard now.”

The Academic 30-2A All-District list also contains several Bobcats. The student/athletes must maintain at least a 90 average in their classroom work in addition to maintaining their good standing on the football teams.

Those attaining and maintaining those lofty standards for the Bobcats include John Arrisola, Robert Brown, Connor McCarn, Chris Patrova, Zach Petrus, Sal Soto and Jared Wilkinson.
