He was born on July 22, 1933, to Domingo and Eva Abrigo in Beeville and raised and adopted by Pedro G. and Adela (Ramos) Soliz as an infant.
He married Senaida Suniga on Dec. 23, 1951, in Beeville and was a truck driver by profession.
He was preceded in death by his biological and adoptive parents; and four brothers, Cecilio Soliz, Julian Soliz, Juan Soliz and Felix Abrigo.
Survivors include his wife, Senaida Soliz of Beeville; two daughters, Eva Medina (Jim) Lee of Tyler and Debbie (J.R.) Garcia of Seguin; two sons, Manuel S. (Sylvia) Soliz of Beeville and Mauricio (Linda) Soliz Jr. of Cincinnati, Ohio; seven sisters, Petra Llamas (Jorge Ortiz) of Beeville, Ebelina (Roberto) Flores of Corpus Christi, Hortencia (Juan) Martinez of Refugio, Jessie (Bob) Harrington of Savannah, Ga., Josie Gonzalez of Killeen, Elida Calderon of Loraine and Maria Saenz of Tivoli; one brother, Domingo (Shawn) Abrigo Jr. of Port Lavaca; 14 grandchildren; 29 great-grandchildren.
Visitation was held Saturday, April 24, from 10 a.m. to 9 p.m. at Angelus Funeral Home. A prayer service was held there that evening at 7 p.m.
Funeral service was conducted at 10 a.m. Sunday, at Angelus Funeral Home, with Pastor Jesse De La Garza officiating. Burial will follow in Our Lady of Victory Cemetery #2.
Pallbearers were Buck Ely, Eulalio Sandoval III, Mark Anthony Vaughn Sr., James Garcia, Epi Dominguez, Ryan MyCue and Joseph Abrigo.
