Four sets of golf clubs have been recovered and another has been located following a burglary at the Refugio Country Club on Oct. 16.

Two suspects were arrested last Thursday and charged with one count of burglary of a building. Four additional counts are expected to be filed.

Shane Baxter, 27, of Corpus Christi and formerly of Refugio, is behind bars in Corpus Christi on another charge and will be turned over to Refugio County at a later date.

Joshua Buckingham, 22, of Corpus Christi, was arrested on warrants by Nueces County law officers. He was picked up by county deputies on Monday and is now in the Refugio County Jail.

Baxter and Buckingham are accused of breaking into five different sheds at the golf course and taking five sets of golf clubs valued at approximately $8,000. All the clubs were located at various pawn shops in Corpus Christi.

Sgt. Gary Wright, who is lead investigator in the case, said he followed up on a tip and was able to locate the clubs at several different pawn shops.

“We will pick up the last set of clubs from Corpus this week,” Wright said.

Burglary of a building is a state jail felony.
