The lone Natalia score came late in the fourth quarter on the Longhorn second team defense. The Big Blue Wrecking Crew Defense allowed Natalia two long pass completions on their first series and Natalia’s attempted field goal was no good. Thereafter, the Longhorns harassed the Mustang passing attack and held Natalia’s offense to 111 yards on 37 attempts. Leading the way for the defense was Yocum who moved back to his inside linebacker position and had 16 tackles and one quarterback sack. Clayton Whitley had nine tackles and put pressure on Natalia’s passing game with his linebacker blitzes. Defensive linemen Aaron McCabe, Thaddeus Pierce, Joseph Moore and Enrique Nieto had outstanding good nights containing the rush and pressuring the quarterback. Outside linebackers Michael Fuentes, Riley Rocha, Bret Epperson, and Ronnie Piaz had their usual steady defensive efforts. Defensive Backs Joseph Lopez, Seth Pipkin and Zane Schorp each had an interception. Dylan Mokrey had a forced fumble and fumble recovery.
Special teams had a good night for the Longhorns. Zane Schorp had two punts for 42 and 46 yards respectively. Ty Jimmerson’s kickoffs and great coverage from the kicking team penned the Mustangs in their own territory all night.
The Longhorns host the Jourdanton Indians Friday night, Oct. 16 at Longhorn Field in a Homecoming contest. As always, the Longhorn fans are needed to cheer the Big Blue Wrecking Crew to victory.
