Aim for Success, Inc., will be presenting their nationally acclaimed Power to Succeed program to the students and parents of George West ISD on Oct. 14-15.

The parent program is slated for Wednesday, Oct. 14 at 7 p.m. and the student program is slated for Oct. 15 during school hours. Only students from 7th-12th grade will participate in the program.

The Aim for Success motivational programs have educated over 1.5 million young people across America during the past 15 years on topics such as sex, drugs and alcohol.

Paid for by a grant from Safe and Drug Free Schools, Power to Succeed examines the problems of drugs and addiction. Tobacco, alcohol, marijuana, cocaine and prescription drugs are just a few of the drugs discussed in this presentation where students will learn about the impact drugs can have on their family, future goals of college and career, and even their future spouse and children. The program clearly demonstrates that avoiding drugs provides freedom from these problems while providing freedom to fulfill exciting dreams and goals!

According to GWISD Director of Educational Services, Robin Sellman, the Power to Succeed program is a follow-up to last year’s sexual abstinence program by the same organization. “We had such an overwhelming turnout from parents last year. Our parents will remember that we were able to have honest conversations about our children and the choices they make. I encourage all parents, church leaders and community leaders to attend this informative session on drugs and alcohol; It’s a great way to be proactive in the lives of our children,” Sellman stated.

The Parent Program includes a preview of the student presentation and equips parents with creative ways to help protect their children from drugs. Community guests are welcomed to attend.
