ANDER – St. Peter’s Lutheran Church of Ander will hold its second annual “God’s work, our hands” Sunday on Sept. 7.

The dedicated day of service will begin with a worship service at 9 a.m. at St. Peter’s picnic area.

Following the service, everyone is invited to an All-American Celebration, including hot dogs, hamburgers and apple pie. Those attending are invited to wear red, white, and blue comfortable clothing that Sunday as the event will be outdoors.

Activities will include designing cards for military service men and women, both retired and active. Youth and adults will participate in creating cards and notes to show appreciation to those who have served our country in the armed forces. Also included will be games for all of the young ones and the young-at-heart.

Plans are underway to obtain names from the community of service personnel who might enjoy receiving a note from the church.

Those who know of someone who might be interested can submit their names and addresses to the church office at or by mail to St. Peter’s Lutheran Church, 1545 E. FM 1961, Goliad, TX 77963-3414.

“God’s work, our hands” Sunday is an opportunity for congregations to celebrate who they are as the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America: one church, freed in Christ to serve and love their neighbor. On Sunday, Sept. 7, the nearly 10,000 congregations of this church gather to serve communities in ways that share the love of God with all of God’s people.
