Eagles split pair

The Pettus volleyball team moved to 6-5 on the year after splitting a pair of matches.

The Eagles claimed a four-set victory over Louise on the road on Tuesday.

Pettus won the first two sets 25-21, before Louise won 25-17 in the third set. The Eagles closed out the match with a 25-21 win in the fourth set.

As a team, Pettus posted 26 kills in the victory.

Randi Arrisola and Anna Elder combined for 18 of those 26 kills with nine apiece.

Arrisola added 15 assists and five aces, while Elder had eight digs and four blocks.

Hana Kruger added five kills and nine assists.

“(It) was a great win for us,” said Eagle coach Brittany Talamantaz. “The way we played was great, together, as a team, ‘family.’ And we were strong.

“I believe our next few matches will prepare us for district.”

The Eagles dropped a three-set decision to Agua Dulce on Aug. 21.

The Longhorns won 25-5 in the first set, 25-14 in the second set and 25-19 in the third set.

For Pettus, Kruger had three kills, three assists and four digs.

Elder added four kills, two digs and a block and Ashlynn Schauer had three kills.
