COTULLA – Four Bee County men were killed instantly early Wednesday when the 2007 Ford pickup in which they were riding struck a trailer parked on the shoulder of Interstate 35 in La Salle County near Cotulla.

According to a report filed by Highway Patrol Trooper Israel Martinez, the vehicle was headed north on the interstate at about 6:20 a.m. when the accident happened.

All four were pronounced dead at the scene. They included the driver, 32-year-old Richard Cuevas of Lehman Road in Beeville, and passengers, 30-year-old Pedro Longoria of Fenner Road in Beeville, 29-year-old Daniel Arredondo of Jemison Road in Beeville and 19-year-old Reynaldo Jimenez of Skidmore.

According to the report filed by Trooper Martinez, a 2006 Kenworth tractor pulling a trailer was disabled on the shoulder of the northbound lane of traffic when the pickup apparently veered off the roadway and into the back of the trailer being pulled by the tractor.

The driver of the tractor was not injured.
