PETTUS – The Lady Eagle varsity is on a hot streak. The Pettus girls have scored more than 80 points in each of their last two victories.

Last Friday night, the Lady Eagles on their home court dominated the Kenedy Leopards 83-46.

Destiny Carrillo contributed 23 points in the big win to go along with five rebounds and four steals. Madi Garza was also in double figures with 16, and she helped control the boards with seven rebounds. On defense, Garza was a thorn in the paws of the Leopards with eight steals.

Ashlynn Schauer produced 15 points, and she added five rebounds and two steals to her stat line. Tristian Moore followed with seven points and contributed four steals. Randi Arrisola and Hanna Kruger each recorded six points. Kiana Barnes added five and Erica DeLosSantos had three tallies. Sierra Woleslagle finished with two points.

On Tuesday night, the Lady ’Jackets from Runge proved to be no challenge as the Pettus girls poured in 84 points while the host Runge girls managed a mere 50.

Carrillo was still red hot with 26 points in the victory. Moore added 15 points for the Lady Eagles while Schauer hit for 10. Garza finished the night with nine markers to go along with five rebounds and 10 steals. DeLosSantos contributed seven tallies and Woleslagle added five. Arrisola and Kruger each sank four points while Barnes contributed three.

The two victories definitely keep the Lady Eagles in the hunt for a playoff spot with just two games left on the regular season schedule. The Pettus girls played Yorktown at home on Friday and then will meet state-ranked and district front-runner Falls City on Tuesday night to complete the schedule.

The Pettus girls are in second place and are looking forward to a trip to the postseason.
