Bobcats earn medals at Goliad powerlifting meet

SAN DIEGO – The Skidmore-Tynan Bobcat and Lady Cat powerlifting squads got medal performances from a few lifters and fared well overall at Saturday’s meet hosted by the Vaqueros.

For the Bobcats, Brady Carpenter finished sixth in the 123-pound weight class. Alex Rocha captured a third place medal in the 148-pound class. Ryan Lakso placed fifth at 181 pounds, and Alex Acosta earned a third place medal in the super heavyweight class.

Nick Avila, Trey Cantu, Frederico Flores and Nick Hernandez also competed for the Bobcats and did well in their weight divisions, according to coach Alex Lopez.

The S-T Lady Cats’ Brianna Olivarez placed eighth in her division. Cassandra Soto took home a second place medal in her weight class. Felicia Ortiz placed ninth to finish in the top ten at her weight class.

Liana Gomez, Lauren Richmond and Vanessa Salinas also competed for the Lady Cats and did well in their divisions, according to coach Lopez.
