BEEVILLE – Police officers are looking for information that could lead to an arrest in a theft case that left a local contractor unable to work Monday.

Patrolman Baldo Salazar was sent to an address in the 700 block of North Washington Street at about 9 a.m. that day, after a 34-year-old reported that some tools had been stolen from his trailer.

The victim said he first noticed something was wrong when he arrived at the work site and found that someone had cut the doors off the trailer.

In all, $1,925 worth of tools were missing from the trailer.

The items included a chop saw, an air compressor, a framing nail gun, a brad nailer, a roofing nailer, a staple gun, a Milwaukee tool set and a Milwaukee radio.

The report filed by Salazar said the case was turned over to Detective Sgt. Art Gamez.

Police Chief Joe Treviño asked that anyone who might have information that could help his officers identify a suspect contact Coastal Bend Crime Stoppers.

If the information provided results in an arrest, the tipster could receive a cash reward of up to $1,000.

All witnesses who contact Coastal Bend Crime Stoppers are guaranteed that they will remain anonymous.
