Sgt. Rene Guerrero said officers got the call just before 1 p.m. after families in one of the city’s most popular parks called to complain.
Flournoy Park is the home of a skate park, a butterfly garden and other public recreational facilities.
The officer said it was Saturday afternoon and a warm day.
“There was a bunch of kids in the park,” Guerrero said. “There were a lot of people there.”
When police arrived they confronted the suspect, identified at Anastacio Gomez. One of the officers ended up pointing a taser at the suspect before he could be subdued.
Guerrero said Gomez was taken to Bee County Jail where he was booked on charges, including public intoxication, indecent exposure, resisting arrest and on several outstanding warrants.
The officer said he was told by the staff at the jail that he had taken about $300 worth of drugs shortly before the incident.
The suspect was released Monday on bonds totaling $3,500.
