Many families in the church have marked special memories with the event, as several of the church women who were pregnant at the time played Mary, and in good weather, babies born during the previous year have played the part of the baby Jesus.
“It’s a tradition that dates back many years here at Faith, and we are always very excited to present the live nativity,” said Youth Group President Gabi Conklin.
Joe Linnestader, whom many area residents know as Trojan Joe, said he remembers doing the live nativity when he was in high school. Only a few times in all those years have they allowed bad weather to stop their performances, though if it is very cold they have been known to cut back to two performances.
The church youth group will be joined by church members to present the live nativity this Sunday, Dec. 15. Three performances will take place outside on the north lawn between 6 and 8 p.m. Each performance will last about 20 minutes and has recorded narration and music. Chairs will be set up, or you can watch from the warmth of your car.
