Mr. Alaniz was born on September 10, 1911, in Garceno, Texas, to Vidal Alaniz and Patricia Rosales Alaniz. He married his beloved wife of 72 years, Josefa Rosa Alaniz, in January 1934. He resided in Beeville, Texas. He was a member of Full Gospel Church. He was known to the family as Apa. He was very strong in the Christian faith and was a very devoted family man who believed in family values. Mr. Alaniz was a rancher, loved farming and enjoyed the country as well as making making pan de campo.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his beloved wife, Josefa Rosa Alaniz; his son, Vidal Alaniz Sr.; daughter, Albesa Silva; and granddaughter, Lydia Allen.
He is survived by his children, Arcelia Suarez and Angelita Loza both of California, Lala Garcia, Rosie Pickett and Nick Alaniz Jr. all of Beeville, Texas and Maria Ramirez of Baytown, Texas; grandson, Bobby Pickett of Beeville, Tx.; brother, Jose Alaniz of Garceno, Tx; numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, great-great-grandchildren, great-great-great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.
Visitation was held Friday, December 13, 2013, from 10:30 a.m. to 9:00 p.m. at Angelus Funeral Home. A Rosary was recited there that evening at 7:00 p.m. at Angelus Funeral Home. The funeral Mass was celebrated on Saturday, December 14, 2013, at 10:00 am at St. Joseph Catholic Church. Burial followed at Glenwood Cemetery.
Pallbearers were Jesse Alaniz, Richard Silva, Chris Tims, Sammy Garcia, Gilbert Perez, Jr., Jason Alaniz. Honorary pallbearers were Joshua Tovar and Ruben Rodriguez.
