Mr. Herrera was born Jan. 24, 1939, to Luis and Herlinda (Campos) Herrera in Beeville. He was a retired construction and oil field worker.
He was preceded in death by his parents; a son, Abran Herrera; and grandmother, Maria Sepeda.
Survivors include his wife, Norma P. Herrera; eight sons, Guadalupe (Velma) Herrera Jr., Joe Herrera, Juan (Janie) Herrera, Edward (Debra) Herrera, Mark (Maria) Mata, Guadalupe Altamirano and Jose Ramos, all of Beeville, and Jerry (Kayla) Herrera of Alexandria, La.; three daughters, Melissa (Felix) Abrigo, Rosalinda Herrera Contreras and Marisol (Vanessa) Herrera, all of Beeville; 24 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; a brother, Luis Herrera; and three sisters, Mary (Manuel) Garcia, Benita (Leone) Campos and Linda (Arturo) Barrera.
Visitation was held Wednesday, Dec. 11, from 1 to 9 p.m. at Treviño Funeral Home. A rosary was recited there that evening at 7 o’clock.
The funeral Mass was celebrated Thursday, Dec. 12, at 2 p.m. at Our Lady of Victory Catholic Church with Father Luke Thirunelliparambil officiating. Interment followed at Our Lady of Victory Cemetery #2.
Pallbearers were Leone Campos, Jesus Contreras, Charlie Rendon, Felix Abrigo, Guadalupe Herrera, Jose Herrera, Leo Campos and Mark Mata.
Honorary pallbearers were his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
