Mr. and Mrs. Robert Reed Lawson will celebrate their golden anniversary on Thanksgiving Day with their family at the home of Mr. Lawson’s sister, Dr. Nancy Lawson, of Cadiz community.

Bob and Louise met in Long Beach, Calif., on Oct. 11, 1963, and were married on Nov. 28, 1963, at Belmont Heights Methodist Church in Long Beach, Calif. Louise (Hale) Lawson is a native of Terre Haute, Ind., and taught at the Indiana State University Laboratory School for three years before moving to California to continue her teaching career. Bob graduated from A.C. Jones High School in 1950, and from the University of Texas in 1962 with a degree in electrical engineering. He then began working for Douglas Aircraft in Long Beach, Calif., as an electrical engineer.

The couple remained in Southern California where they raised their three children, Laura Boatman of Flagstaff, Ariz., Leslie Lawson of Los Angeles, Calif., and John Lawson of Beeville, until January 1991 when Bob retired. At that time, they moved to Beeville, Bob’s hometown, to continue the family business of Water Well Drilling. They are the current owners of B & L Water Well Drilling in Beeville.

Mr. and Mrs. Lawson would like to invite all their friends and neighbors to join them for a cake and punch celebration in the fellowship hall of First Christian Church at 715 N. St. Mary’s St. on Saturday, Nov. 30, from 3 to 5 p.m. No gifts please.
