Members of VFW Auxiliary No. 9170 and the American Legion Unit 274 are working together to obtain items to be sent overseas to our active duty military personal this Christmas.

Items such as hand sanitizer, wipes, deodorant, tissues, socks, powders, toothpaste, toothbrushes, candy, packaged cookies, gum and a variety of other items will be packaged and sent. Both organizations are accepting donations of all these items. Personal size (small) items are needed, along with a variety of snacks, playing cards and writing materials, which are always welcome. Large containers are not feasible to be carried in backpacks. No glass items will be accepted.

Donations can be dropped off at 1801 S. Washington St. or 300 W. Hutchinson St. For more information, call Teresa Holland at 358-1550 or email If you have someone to whom you wish to send a care package, let her know. All packages sent to individuals will be shared with others. Christmas boxes must be sent by the middle of November in order to give them time for delivery.

Favorites are always snack foods; candy, gum, packaged cookies, nuts, etc., are always enjoyed.

Help make Christmas a little brighter for our servicemen and women overseas. These items are not available any other way except through care packages from home. All donations are greatly appreciated.
