The Bee County Commissioners Court meeting Monday got interesting compared to other times.
What a shame when item 12, discussion and approval for new employees or change of status of employees for the Veteran Service Officer/Community Affairs Department was announced. The veteran service officer was hired on Oct. 7 and has been working since; now his employment is in limbo.
The entourage of ex-military veterans led by Mr. Musquez and three others gave their thoughts and opinions on the selection process of the new veteran service officer. Two of the four expressing their opinions had been applicants to the VA position and did not get hired.
Pct. 3 Commissioner Rodriguez again had an asinine idea to hire a VA officer and then to fire him before he is confirmed, even though he has been working since Oct. 7.
Just like the his intent to suppress in Bee County the First Amendment of free speech in the Constitution of the United States.
Commissioner Rodriguez and Commissioner DeWitt and Mr. Galvan were on the selection committee and made the decision to hire a new VA officer. Commissioner Rodriguez was also on the committee when Mr. Puga was hired as the VA officer.
Such a simple task gets complicated by too many cooks stirring the pot. It sure seems that the commissioner promised a position to an applicant. He forgot his promise to the people and ethics of office of not promising jobs or positions or special favors.
I hope that the new VA officer realizes that he will be of vital service to all veterans.
What is next in the Republica de Condado Bee?
