On Oct. 14, during the commissioners court meeting, item 16 read: discussion and action to consider repair of flagpoles at the Bee County Expo Center. Some feathers were ruffled by the chain of command used to get the project going by the Expo director.
During the discussion, Commissioner Rodriguez stated that he was for repairing the flagpole at the Expo Center. During the discussion, it slipped out that he was not against any other flag flying anywhere or being shown on anything on the property except not on the county flagpole. But the statement on the Expo contract still stands. Which means that, at any time, they can charge with trespassing anyone exhibiting a Confederate flag — which would still be a First Amendment violation.
The solution: install six flagpoles and exhibit all six flags that have flown over Texas.
