I was recently named 2014 Miss Teen Western Week. I want to thank the many people who made this experience possible.

The Beeville Rotary Club needs a GIANT thank you! Without them none of this would be possible. This pageant is an extremely important function designed to help mold the young ladies in our community. Throughout the pageant process, there are countless lessons learned on becoming a well-rounded young woman with self-respect and the determination that anything in life is possible.

I am excited about representing Bee County this year. I have many goals and ideas to help better our community. I am a big advocate against bullying, and with my position I plan to help stop this senseless act that occurs too often. Leticia Munoz and Diana Self are two of the many women dedicated to this program. The hours put into all the events, meetings and practices are countless. These women put their whole hearts into ALL the young ladies involved. Robin Haws from Studio Eleven Photography captured our smiling faces and memories for a lifetime. Thank you for providing your free photo booth at the royal ball! There are so many volunteers and sponsors to thank.

Thanks to all the judges also. This must not have been an easy job for them. All the contestants and princesses gave 100 percent and shined like stars this weekend. My fellow teens all looked amazing, and we all grew in these last few months. Thank you, girls, for all your support and friendship. I will always remember the words of encouragement and advice we gave one another.

Last and not least, my family needs to be recognized. Without the support of my parents, Nickelle and Rene Gonzales and Marcos and Michelle Arteaga, nothing in my world would be possible. My achievements and awards have come from being raised that challenging myself is an everyday responsibility. Thank you for loving me and never giving up on any of my dreams. Sandra Clark is my grandmother. She is a great example of never giving up. I see her challenges every day and her determination to get through them. Thank you for being you and never giving up on any of our dreams.

So many who deserved to be named have not been. I have a whole year to show you my appreciation. I will be the best leader and example I can. This will be a magical year, and I cannot wait to experience it.
