Refugio County to hold beef cattle workshop Sept. 27

REFUGIO – The 2nd Annual Refugio County Beef Cattle Workshop is to be held from 8 a.m. to Noon on Friday, Sept. 27, at Padilla Hall at the Refugio County Fairgrounds.

Registration will begin at 7 a.m., and breakfast will be provided, thanks to the sponsorship of Capital Farm Credit. This workshop will be focused on providing quality research based information to beef cattle producers in Refugio County and the surrounding area. Topics will be focused around replacement heifers and will include, Physical and Genetic Selection, Herd Health and Vaccination Programs presented by Crossroads Veterinary Clinic of Victoria, Economics of Buying vs. Raising Replacement Females, and Insect and Pest Control for Beef Cattle. Continuing Education Units (CEUs) will be provided to attendees in Pesticide Applicators. Cost of the program will be $10 per person. Door prizes will be sponsored by the Texas Brangus Breeders Association.
