CORPUS CHRISTI –The American Red Cross is proud to announce, Dr. Jamie Foster, Ph.D., as a new addition to its board of directors. Dr. Foster was elected by donors, volunteers and staff attending the annual meeting of the chapter members on June 27.

“We are glad that Dr. Foster has joined us in our work on behalf of the Red Cross and the people we serve,” Pete Wyro, executive director, said. “Her efforts along with those of the remaining members will ensure we are able to meet our goal of supporting the Red Cross mission.”

As a board member, she will advise the chapter to ensure that the Coastal Bend-Texas Chapter continues to provide disaster relief services, to train community members in life-saving CPR and First Aid Courses, and to provide support to military members during times of need.

Dr. Foster, Ph.D. is an assistant professor with Texas AgriLife Research in Beeville and the Department of Soil and Crop Sciences at Texas A&M University-College Station. She is a graduate of Tarleton State University in Stephenville; she also attended Texas A&M University and University of Florida.

Trained in both forage agronomy and ruminant nutrition, her research focus is the plant-animal interface. She has published articles in the Agronomy Journal and the Journal of Animal Science. Her focus is on warm-season legumes and their inclusion into warm-season based pastures in the southern United States.
