The Kenedy 4B summer youth program ended it summer activities with a volleyball camp at the George W. Dumont gym from July 28 thru Aug. 2. The high school had 25 girls attend the camp while the junior high had 15 girls.

Throughout the week, the attendance was over 200 with St. Joseph High School Varsity Volleyball Coach Mumphord staying very busy with hitting drills, passing techniques, as well as working on overhead serving with the junior high. According to Coach Mumphord, he has seen a drastic improvement in the high school volleyball program and our junior high program is making strides in the right direction, although numbers should be higher to maintain a strong high school program.

Thank you to Kayla Krietsch who also helped Coach Mumphord during the volleyball camp. Also from St. Joseph High School and local Kenedy resident, Coach Rudy Diaz, took our Kenedy softball girls to a tournament at the Field of Dreams in Victoria on Sunday, Aug. 4. The girls 12-14 age group played 3 games for the first time for Kenedy 4B with schools from Our Lady of Victory and N.A. Academy from Victoria. The girls displayed some good softball techniques throughout the tournament. We would like to thank the City of Kenedy, Kenedy 4B, Larry Kiesling, Coach Diaz, Coach Booker, Coach Bell, Coach Havron for letting us use the school facilities, and all the donations received from individuals and businesses and the Countywide, it was another great summer for Kenedy 4B.
