Delia Martinez Contreras transitioned from this life to eternal life on August 6, 2013, at the age of 88. Mrs. Contreras was born on January 30, 1925, to the late Alfonso and Eloisa (Rodriguez) Martinez in Beeville. She was actively involved in her faith being a Catholic where she served in the Saint Anne Society, and a lector in Spanish at Our Lady of Victory Church, Guadalupanas at Saint James Catholic Church, and the Woodmen of the World. She was preceded in death by her parents, the fathers of her children, Alcario M. Cortez and Antonio F. Contreras; son, Ramon R. Contreras; two brothers, Alfonso R. Martinez, Jr., and Gerardo R. Martinez. Mourning her death, but cherishing her memory are four daughters, Elena M. Cortez, Mel (Carmela) Contreras, Del "Delia Marie" (Robert) Hernandez of Beeville and M. Eloisa (Ed) Garza of Mission; one son, Conrado Guadalupe Contreras of Austin; daughter-in-law, Carmen Contreras of Donna; two sisters, M. Leonore Rios, and Eufemia (Encarnacion) Garza; eight grandchildren, Clarissa A. Lopez, Charles (Carlos) J. Contreras, Christopher M. Contreras, Mark A. Contreras, Jacob A. Contreras, A. Joshua Rincon, Desiree D. Ramirez, and Cody J. Hernandez; eleven great-grandchildren, Celeste Anik', Quentin Isak, Jalen Levi, Kaleb Kaos, Kadynce Aija, Jordan, Colden Lord, Sienna Rae, Marli Jade, Leah Jae and Sophie Alluve; a host of nieces, nephews and friends.

Visitation was Friday, August 9th, at Trevino Funeral Home beginning at 1:00p.m. – 4:00p.m., and continued from 5:00p.m. – 9:00p.m. at Our Lady of Victory Catholic Church with a rosary at 7:00p.m. Mass was held Saturday, August 10th, at Our Lady of Victory Catholic Church at 9:30a.m. with Father Luke officiating. Interment followed at Our Lady of Victory Cemetery #1.

Active Bearers of the Bier were: Charles (Carlos) J. Contreras, Mark A. Contreras, Christopher M. Contreras, Jacob A. Contreras, A. Joshua Rincon and Cody J. Hernandez. Honorary Bearers of the Bier were: Clarissa A. Lopez, Desiree D. Ramirez and Celeste A. Contreras.
