RUNGE – Chad Fox has spent decades in the education profession and now brings his many years of experience to Runge ISD, where he is now the new principal of Runge High School.

Fox has spent 29 years as an educator, holding various positions as a teacher, coach, and administrator in his long and expansive career.

“I’m very excited about being selected as the new principal,” said Fox of his new position. “I have always wanted an opportunity to make a difference in the lives of young people. I’ve worked all of my career at small, rural communities and schools and really enjoy the small town connections and atmosphere.”

A native Texan, Fox has lived and worked in South Texas his whole life and has his roots in his hometown of Odem. Fox graduated from Odem High School in 1971 and then went on to earn his Bachelor of Science degree from University of Texas Pan-American in Edinburg in 1978. Fox then eventually earned his master’s degree in Education Administration from Lamar University in 2009.

A proud military veteran, Fox also served six years in the Army National Guard from 1971-1977.

Fox began his education career in his hometown, where he was a teacher and a coach for 19 years at Odem ISD. He then moved on to Refugio ISD, where he has been for the past nine years. Fox served as a defensive-coordinator football coach and taught science and physical education for the first three years at Refugio, and then went on to be assistant principal for both the high school and elementary school campuses.

Fox relates his enthusiasm and commitment to his new leadership role as principal, and also to what has been his life’s work in the education field of rural communities.

“The education professions provide a great opportunity to reach out and help kids. I feel I have a calling for this… and truly welcome the challenge of leading the students, staff, and all stakeholders at Runge High School.”

Fox and his wife of 37 years, Melanie (with whom he has five grown children and 10 grandchildren), are getting to know the Runge community and are looking forward to the new challenge and responsibility of Fox‘s position as the principal of Runge High School.

“I have been very impressed with the administration and staff and I am looking forward to making connections with all stakeholders in the community of learners, and I am excited to be a part of the Runge ISD,” he said.
