Coastal Bend College’s enrollment has again dropped.

But barely.

The number of students taking courses for the second summer semester is 608, compared with 627 for the first summer session — a drop of 3 percent, and a 15 percent drop from the same time in 2011.

“It is slightly down from the first semester, but it’s not significant,” CBC President Dr. Beatriz Espinoza told the board of trustees July 18.

Any loss of enrollment revenue, she says, was offset by not allowing a class to make unless 10 students enrolled or, if it didn’t, having the instructor teach it on a pro-rated basis.
