Tropical Storm Dorian gained strength Wednesday in the eastern Atlantic Ocean and is projected to continue tracking west-northwest over the next several days and possibly reach the Virgin islands and Puerto Rico late Sunday.

The National Hurricane Center said dry, stable air is immediately ahead of and behind Dorian, which could help the storm strengthen into a hurricane.

It is far too soon to either rule out or speculate about a U.S. threat.
