Martha was the perfect hostess when Jesus came visiting, but her sister Mary just sat at the Lord's feet and listened. The Gospel lesson taken from the tenth chapter of Luke relates this story of Martha and her sister Mary. Martha even asked Jesus to intervene on her behalf, but Jesus answered ,"Martha, Martha, you are worried and distracted by many things; there is need of only one thing. Mary has chosen the better part, which will not be taken away from her." (v 41-42) Some times we are just so busy in living our lives that we don't take the time to hear the Word and study the Word. In all of our busy "doing" we have forgotten to "be" with God. We have forgotten to sit still at the teacher's feet and meditate on his message. Mary's quiet attentiveness reminds us to open the door to Christ and let Him into our lives. He wants to be an integral part of our lives. Like Martha, we need to reorient ourselves. We need to listen to God before we get too busy to hear.

Sunday worship services at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Runge begin at 8:30 a.m. followed by Fellowship and Adult Bible Study. Come and join us and hear the Word of the Lord.
