Mittie Ethel (Musslewhite) Duncan, 100, of Bryan, died at her home Wednesday, July 10, 2013.

Mrs. Duncan was born April 18, 1913, in Omen, Smith County, to Reuben William and Mary Elizabeth (Mollie) Musslewhite. She was the 14th of 15 children. She married Talmage Duncan on Aug. 24, 1931, in Shreveport, La. She was a homemaker, artist and follower of Jesus Christ. She taught Bible classes to children and women and enjoyed reading, gardening and painting.

She was preceded in death by her husband of 72 years, Talmage Duncan; a grandson, Joseph Duncan; her parents; siblings; and three sons-in-law.

Survivors include her children, Freda Rhoads of Bryan, Marilyn Raney of Atlanta, June Florey of Pearland, Aaron and Anita Duncan of Trinity, and Tad and Lynda Duncan of Hillsboro; 14 grandchildren; 22 great-grandchildren; and 7 great-great-grandchildren.

A graveside service was held 1 p.m. Friday, July 12, at Elkins Cemetery in Omen.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Hospice Brazos Valley, 502 West 26th Street, Bryan, Texas 77803.

Arrangements were under the direction of Memorial Funeral Chapel in Bryan.
