Mr. Williamson was born March 27, 1915, in Pioneer, La. His parents were Ward and Lela McElrath Williamson. He married Agnes Raybourn of Columbia, Miss., in 1937. He worked with heavy equipment and was an operating engineer for many years. He retired and then undertook a new career as a security guard for the Braman O’Connor estate for 22 years.
He was an outdoorsman, enjoyed camping, boating, fishing and hunting, and was a superb storyteller.
Survivors include a sister, Ethelyn of California; a son, Gary (Catherine) Williamson; four grandchildren, Quentin (Martha) Harris, Gerard (Geniene) Harris, Chandler (Angela) Williamson and Morgan Williamson; and four great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Agnes; and his daughter and son-in-law, Carol and John Harris.
Visitation was held at 11:30 a.m. Monday, July 8, at Colonial Funeral Home.
The funeral service followed at 1 p.m. at the funeral home chapel with the Rev. Vernon Andrews officiating. Burial was at Memorial Park Cemetery.
Pallbearers were Chandler Williamson, Quent Harris, Gerard Harris, Seth Harris, Jake Harris and Gene Earley.
