The Coastal Bend College Social Sciences Division is proud to welcome a world renowned scholar, Dr. James Hoffmeier, to the CBC Beeville campus on Thursday, Aug. 29.

Hoffmeier will deliver a riveting two-part lecture about the Bible and the Exodus. The CBC Lecture Series strives to provide the CBC community and student body with access to high quality, world renowned speakers who are experts in their field.

Hoffmeier is currently a professor of Near Eastern archaeology at Trinity International University, Divinity School in Deerfield, Ill. He was born in Egypt where he lived until age 16. Growing up in the Middle East laid an important foundation for his future as an archaeologist. He has been engaged in fieldwork and research in Egypt on a regular basis since 1975. He has published several books regarding the Bible and Egypt, and he’s spoken at various engagements all over the world.

The entire community is invited to hear Hoffmeier deliver informative lectures about the Bible, archaeology and history, and the Israelite Exodus from Egypt in this one-night only engagement. Tickets for the lecture series are available exclusively online at

Adult tickets are $12 each, and student tickets (with current/valid student ID) are $7 each. A limited number of VIP tickets are also available for $25 and include a fully catered dinner with Hoffmeier before the lecture begins.

The event is sponsored in part by the Coastal Bend College Foundation which aims to raise funds to ensure student success at CBC.

Additional information about the event includes:

•The lecture will be held Thursday, Aug. 29, from 6 to 9 p.m. inside the Gertrude R. Jones Auditorium on the CBC Beeville campus.

•A brief intermission with refreshments will be held from 7 to 7:30 p.m. Hoffmeier will hold a question-and-answer session following the lecture, and he will also have a book signing. Books will be available for purchase at the event.

•The VIP dinner includes a catered Texas style barbecue feast from 4:30 to 5:30 p.m. with Hoffmeier on the CBC Beeville campus. VIP ticket holders will also have a seat reserved for them within the first three rows of the auditorium. There are only 42 VIP tickets available.

•Tickets are available exclusively online at there is a limit of eight tickets per order. All proceeds from ticket sales will help fund future CBC Lecture Series events.
