Goliad's Billo breezes to state semifinals

COLLEGE STATION – Goliad's Ryder Billo defeated Merkel's Chase LeBlanc 6-1, 6-0 Monday morning to advance to Monday's 2 p.m. semifinal against Whitesboro's Jamison Burch at the Class 2A state tennis tournament.

Burch defeated Franklin's Brent Wallingford 6-3, 6-3 in Monday's quarterfinals.

The winner between Billo and Burch will face the winner of the other semifinal between Jim Ned's Reese Cook and Hughes Springs' Hayden Smith at 9 a.m. Tuesday in the championship match.
