SKIDMORE – Athletic Director Russell Joy has tendered his resignation as of Wednesday to Skidmore-Tynan Independent School District Superintendent Dr. Brett Belmarez.

Joy resigned his position effective immediately to allow the school board to post the job opening and fill the top athletic department position before the end of the school year. Joy will be at the S-T post until the end of the school year, however, according to Belmarez.

Joy is said to be looking to move closer to his family in the San Antonio area. Joy was brought in to coach the Bobcats just last year and worked hard to create a good foundation for the S-TISD football and athletics program.

The varsity Bobcats finished the year with a 3-7 record and were 3-4 in district play last season.

The posting for the position is up and applications will be taken and interviews set up before the school year ends.

Dr. Belmarez feels confident that a successor can be found and hired before the end of the school year and possibly by the time of the athletic banquet.
