St. Paul Lutheran Church, Runge: Be dedicated to and serve the Lord
Our nation experienced horrible tragedies last week and we are mourning the loss of innocent victims and are praying for those hurt and for all the people affected by the events. We are reminded of past tragic times like 9-11 and Pearl Harbor and Newtown and Aurora and tragic times in our own lives. Just like after each event, now is the time for wounds to heal and people to cope with the tragedies. All of this takes time and we as a nation and people of God must know that God was with us before, during, and now after the tragedies. How we deal with adversity can make us stronger or we can dwell on how we have been wronged. It is much more difficult to see what good can come from it. How do we heal and go on with life? How do we work through life's tragedies? God never promised that we would not face struggles. We may struggle to see what good comes from hurt. God is walking with us and we are not alone and never have you been. God is always there during the good times and the bad. Jesus is the Way, the Truth, and the Life. Jesus, the good shepherd, calls us by name and leads us. May we be attentive to the voice of the one whose intimate love and nourishing presence are everlasting.
God of all power, you called from death our Lord Jesus, the great shepherd of the sheep. Send us as shepherds to rescue the lost, to heal the injured, and to feed one another with knowledge and understanding; through your Son, Jesus Christ our Lord, who lives and reigns with you and the Holy Spirit, one God, now and forever. Amen
