Manuel Villarreal
Manuel Villarreal, age 69, died January 24th, 2013, in the comfort of his home with family by his side, after an extended illness, in Rancho Cordova, Ca. He was born August 10th, 1943, in Beeville Texas, to the late Manuel Villarreal Sr. and Francisca (Torrez) Young.

He attended local Beeville schools before moving to California in the late 50’s. He graduated from Aviation High School in Manhattan Beach and promptly enlisted in the Air Force. He served in Germany and started his travels through Europe. After his enlistment, he joined the Merchant Marines to extend his travels. He enriched his life by his international traveling and immersing himself with their cultures and food by living with people in their homes for periods of time.

He loved history, religions, reading, exotic foods, gardening, talking on the phone to his family and friends through-out the world. He shared many stories about his adventures. He will be missed by many.

He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Eduardo and Guadalupe Torrez of Beeville; and his aunt, Juanita Torrez Matlock of Sun Valley, Nevada.

Survivors include his mother, Frances Torrez Young of Rancho Cordova, Ca.; two sisters, Olga Elizalde of Beeville, and sister Melinda Torrez Elizalde; and one brother, Hector John Elizalde, both of Rancho Cordova, Ca.; his aunt, Guadalupe Bridge of Normanna; and numerous cousins, nephews and nieces.
