GEORGE WEST – The Skidmore-Tynan Bobcats ran into some tough pitching from the host Longhorns on Tuesday night as big right-hander Andrew Katzfey threw a two-hitter at the ’Cats in a 10-0 loss for the S-T boys.

“We ran into a great team. We had our chances early but made mistakes to kill ourselves and allowed their pitcher to settle down,” said Bobcat head coach Cody Fields.

The ’Horns scored twice in the bottom of the first inning and added two more runs in the home half of the third to lead 4-0. The GW bats kept after S-T starter Jonathan Hernandez and put up three runs in each of the next two innings to make the final a 10-0 win in five innings.

The Bobcat defense helped the Longhorns with three errors on the night. Kyle Nelson stroked a double for the Bobcats’ only extra base hit in the game.

The Longhorn offense came up with 14 base hits including four doubles as Brady Jones recorded two doubles while Enrique Nieto and Lukas Barcak provided two-baggers for the hosts.

“We had runners in scoring position throughout the game but couldn’t get the big hit when we needed one. We have to regroup and finish the season strong,” said Fields.

The S-T boys hosted the Odem Owls on Friday night and will travel to San Diego on Tuesday night to meet the Vaqueros.
