“We came out and played well for five innings, but we need to score more runs. We will work hard and continue to compete and improve in practice and in games,” said head coach Jose Flores.
The Beeville girls scored a single run in the bottom of the first to grab an early 1-0 lead over the Warriors. The visitors tied it up with a run of their own in the second and then took the lead with two more runs in the third.
Beeville pushed across another run in the third to edge closer at 3-2. It would stay that way until the top of the fifth when the Lady Warriors plated two runs for a 5-2 advantage.
Three Victoria runs in the top of the sixth and three more in the seventh put the game out of the Lady Trojans’ reach and made the final score 11-2.
The West scoring was helped by seven Beeville errors on the night. The Lady Trojans picked up five hits against the Warriors as Rebecca De Los Santos, Eddika Ortega, Lynn Puente, Theresa Amador and Brianna Gobel stroked base hits for the hosts. De Los Santos had one RBI as did Puente. Ortega and Gobel scored for JHS.
The loss leaves the Lady Trojans at 1-7 in district play with four games remaining as of Monday.
The Lady Trojans were in Victoria on Tuesday night to meet the East Lady Titans. On Friday evening, the Beeville girls will host the Port Lavaca Sandies.
