FALLS CITY – The Pettus Eagle varsity baseball club got some great pitching and hitting from Coby Gonzales on Friday night to hand the hometown Beavers an 8-4 loss.

The Eagles scored six big runs in the top of the first to take command. The Beavers struck for three in the third to make it closer at 6-3.

The Pettus bats added two fifth inning runs and another single run in the sixth to put an eight on the scoreboard. The Falls City team managed just one more run against Gonzales in the sixth to make the final an 8-4 win for the Eagles.

In addition to going the distance on the mound for the win, Gonzales went 3-4 at the plate for the Eagles.

Pettus played host to Runge on Tuesday night. On Friday, the varsity boys will travel to Woodsboro to tangle with the district’s other Eagles.
