PORTLAND – The host Gregory-Portland Ladycats fired a two-hitter at the Lady Trojan softball team on Thursday night to coast to a 10-0 five-inning victory.

“Our bats have been cold the last couple of games,” said Beeville head coach Jose Flores.

The Ladycats scored three runs in the bottom of the first and second innings to jump to a 6-0 lead. Two more runs crossed the plate in the third to give the G-P girls an 8-0 advantage. Single runs in the fourth and fifth sealed the 10-run rule game.

Andrea Briseno and Ashley Olivarez recorded the two base hits for the Lady Trojans.

The loss leaves the Beeville girls at 1-6 in district play. The Lady Trojans will host the Victoria West Warriors on Thursday night.
